While the Traction Productions brand began in 1986 by Thierry Gros, who serves as Designer and General Director, the underlying company is a family-owned business backed by 5 generations of Gros Family business experience, including more than 80 years in the optical industry and a long history of manufacturing their products in Jura-France.

Said Thierry Gros, Traction Productions’ Designer and General Director, in a recent interview: “We try to be at the same time at the avant garde of design and also we are proud of our history in the manufacturing – we have roots in that business.”

The name “Traction” comes from Traction Avenue, a street in downtown Los Angles that was once a popular gathering place for up and coming creatives – young and elite artists, fashion designers and filmmakers.

Even with this youthfulness of inspiration in mind, this eyewear is popular across a broad spectrum of ages who want to “dress their face” with a unique eyewear look to compliment their individual personality and style.

Traction Production designs are inspired by travels, haute couture, architecture, feelings and other inspirations.

Always, the process starts with a drawing that is reinterpreted by computer design to facilitate prototype creation.

Colors are selected in accordance with the spirit of the Traction Productions brand, current trends and the materials appropriate for each design, whether that is acetate, surgical stainless steel or titanium.

Manufacturing is exclusively in Jura, France where there is a depth of experience in eyewear production that helps maintain the Traction Productions standards of quality.
